PPD lesson 6

We were tasked to create a paper prototype of our art theif game, the game was designed using a grid to keep it simple and clear, we decided to have the guards to move and look randomly where as the player has a choice to move horizontally or vertically by 2 squres or move by 1 square, the player is able to collect keys and knock any guards not looking directly at the guard, we made changes so the player has 3 lives but there isnt a timer to the game.

PPD lesson 5

I wasnt in so heres a trailer to a upcoming MMO for PC games which i find quite interesting

PPD lesson 4

We started to create the goals challenges and procedures to our games we decided to stick with our second idea and start making the rules and etc for the art theif game. The challenge in the game was to avoid being caught by the guards while trying to steal as many paintings as possible in a set time limit, if the player was to be caught they would reset the room they were in and lose all the paintings they gained throughout the game.

Dead on arrival

LA rush will be the game I will write about, the game is cheap imitation of other street racing games such as need for speed, midnight club and etc to put it bluntly. The story is poor you play as a street racer who had it all a mansion, fancy cars, women ,and etc you lose it all after you show a lack off respect to a man with a lot off connection where you lose everything except the car that got you to the top. The gameplay feels more like a arcade game then a console game which may have fancy effects but just feels boring theres hardly any tension and doesn't really draw me into it. the game has an outrageous challenge where your are pursued by at least 10 cars (which may I add look the exact same) where you are to drive to a extremely far location while avoiding to stop your car from stopping or getting damaged too much (this is also very early in the game) I find the challenge rather over exaggerated. This is one game I would only recommend to a person I hate!

This will be about the Playstation 2 version of True Crime: streets of LA the game has a medicore story where the protagonist is a detective in LA who's father disappeared 20 years ago, as the player is tasked to solve a case where the Triad are involved as the player progresses the story escalates with many others involved and the mysteries off the missing father starts to haunt the protagonist. The game it self is similar to grand theft auto a role playing sandbox game where the player can do what they want in the city but also the choice of doing story missions, the game also uses a good cop and bad cop feature which affects the outcome of the game ending, which is one off my favorite features the ability to also upgrade your equipment when ever a episode is completed fully is also a nice add on, the only thing i would dislike about this game is the precision aiming system where the aim reticule moves too much which can be quite frustrating to any player trying to land a perfect shot.

ppd lesson 3

We carried on with our demograph last week but we reviewed its bad points and changed it to make it more suitable and better. We further devolped the game by adding challenges such as trap holes and a slide on system to allow the player to customise the game in which ever way they like to add challenge and to stop repition, We also came up with another game idea in a handheld console format where you are a theif stealing paitings from the tate and avoid being caught by the gaurds.

ppd lesson 2

We were split into groups of five to four and tasked to think of an idea for the Tate competition for a product, we were first tasked to come up with a demographic our ideal audience was a free runner french student who liked puzzles and had a sick sister in hospital his name is Jaque Leon from Beauduex, we came up with a puzzle game similiar to the maze ball bearing games; where you can navigate around the tate as the ball bearing. The main problem about our person was that we made him far too reckless and over exxagerated his persona.

ppd lesson 1

We were split into groups of four and wrote five things about our lives that can be made into a game onto sticky notes, after we all finished writing five things, we grouped them into what type of games we could catergories them into. We were then tasked to make games out of the sticky notes by putting them together we made two games, one game is where a wanderer gets lost after walking with his dog and has to survive by defending himself in teh wilderness with hungry wild animal pursueing him he is armed with a gun and must get home with his companion safely. The second game is where an guy visits America and gets drink and enjoys rock music.
